Happiness is a delightful state of mind. Although we all have our own distinct favorite things that make us happy, we’ve got one thing in common. We LIKE to be happy.
Case in point, how many songs have been written about being happy?
- Most recently we’ve got Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.”
- Then there’s Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy” from the late 1980s.
- Back in high school, the musicals I performed in during my freshman and sophomore years both had happy-themed songs. “I Want To Be Happy” in No, No, Nanette and “Happy Talk” in South Pacific.
- And we can’t forget about “Happy Birthday.”
Seeking happiness is a big deal for most people.
How does happy happen?
Often it’s the simple things in life that make us most happy. We all have our own unique likes, dislikes, and frames of reference.
Here’s my short list:
- Taking my dog for a long walk.
- Hugs from my daughter.
- Sharing a bottle of wine and conversation with my husband.
- Laughing with abandon in the company of my friends.
- Steamed broccoli.
Happiness is peace of mind.
Among the multitude of other things that make me happy is a good night’s sleep.
Having the peace of mind that my family is provided for financially helps with that.
I sleep easier at night because my husband and I secured life insurance policies to protect what we’ve worked so hard for over the years. While we both have some coverage through my husband’s employer (which would go away if ever he lost his job or left the company), we purchased additional insurance – including a term life policy on me because of its affordability and flexibility.
It feels good to have that in place, and I believe we’re both a tad happier knowing we’ve got something to fall back on if the unimaginable happens.
Is life insurance the key to happiness?
Maybe, but I don’t think it’s too farfetched to say feeling secure about the future would move the needle on the happiness meter for most people.
In addition, being happy could save you money on term life insurance.
Well, you won’t actually find questions on your term life insurance application asking if you are happy. That would be weird. But you will find questions asking if you are unhappy.
More specifically, life insurance companies are very interested in knowing if you’ve ever been treated for anxiety or depression. If so, your life insurance cost could be a little higher.
Don’t worry. Be happy.
So if uncertainty about your family’s financial future detracts from your happiness, wouldn’t it be worth your time to check out your term life insurance options and get a quote quickly and easily online?
You’ll probably discover the cost is far more affordable than you think. In fact, term life insurance is the most affordable type of life insurance you can buy. You can even convert term policies to whole (permanent) life policies within a certain amount of time.
Will term life insurance alone make you happy? Probably not. But it could get you one step closer.
