Yes, my wife is a homemaker also and she was approved for the same amount of life insurance that I was. They did ask her how much insurance I had, so just be sure to put on your application that your spouse has insurance also.

I am a homemaker and do not generate any income. My spouse is the breadwinner. When I applied for my term policy, they asked me for my household income which I guess is something the insurance company has to look at to figure out how much insurance one can qualify for.

... I was also asked for my household income. I think the insurance companies can just go off of that.

Nakedbee- Don't go there. Being a homemaker is one of the MOST thankless and difficult jobs there is but also the most rewarding. You obviously don't have children... Shocked

NakedBee there are plenty of reasons it's important for a stay at home mom(or dad) to have life insurance. As Norcalgal said it is one of the hardest jobs! Would the employed spouse be able to quit their job to stay home with the kids? If not, then the cost of child care not to mention other expenses would need to be covered.

That is a great point Tragedi. Child care is extremely expensive nowadays especially if you want quality child care. If my spouse ends up taking a dirt nap, I will definatley need to hire someone to care for my pups. I have 5 total  Shocked Man what a handful!! Well, for my spouse anyways Wink
