Vacant houses
01/15/08 at 14:29:56

I am moving to another state and I can't sell my house so I have to just keep it on the market trying to sell it while it is empty. I heard there are some crazy fees for your homeowner insurance if you have a vacant house. Does anyone know of a way to get around this?

You may be able to get around it if you can charge someone rent to use your garage as  a storage unit. Then someone would be in your house on a consistent basis, and they may not call it vacant anymore. Or just don't tell them it is vacant, you will be paying for all the damages if someone destroys your house. I guess if that is a chance you want to take...

Better watch out for looters and homeless people! Kids might break a window and use your vacant house for parties, or they could use it as a meth lab! Yikes! I would make it a priority to get rid of a vacant house at any cost! Even a crappy renter would be better than a vacant house!

I have an idea, thats what my parents do, my mom and dad lives at New Jersy and when they come and stay with me for a month or 2, they actually rent their house and come, thats a preety cool plan, just you have to be sure that the papers should be secured !!!
