Hey, what's the deal with a child rider? Can anyone explain it to me? Can a child be declined for a rider? Does the child have be a certain age?

A child rider allows you to buy so many units for your child/children. It costs extra for this feature. A child can be declined for a rider if they have any diseases or disorders like cancer, heart disease, epilepsy, etc. You have to fill out a form that is like a mini health questionnaire for your child/children. From there, the insurance company can decide if your child qualifies for the rider. They won't have to take a medical exam either.

Another option you may want to consider for your child, or children, is a child life insurance plan that offers them guaranteed life insurance protection in the future (as long as you pay your premiums).

Some of the insurance companies that offer child life insurance plans include Gerber's and Globe Life.
