Depression?
02/15/08 at 11:09:46

I am on medication for depression. I was diagnosed several years ago by my doctor and the medication has been helpful. I am glad that I have my depression under control but I am concerned that I will be given a higher premium because of this on my insurance.  Is there a company that will not penalize me for taking anti-depressants?

I think your rating will all depend on how severe your depression was before medical intervention. Just to let you know, most insurance companies have a two year contestable period. They want to ensure that you aren't getting the insurance to commit suicide and have your family receive the death benefit. Even though not all depressed people commit suicide, somehow the insurance companies tend think of that in terms of approving a person diagnosed with depression.
