Protesting a Problem??
03/06/08 at 14:12:31

Hi! I am an animal rights activist and I have been a little rowdy a few times. I was sent to jail for fights that broke out while protesting once last year and then again this year. I am wondering if this will be a problem if I try to apply for life insurance?

VeganGirl- I think this would be a problem. Wouldn't the insurance company consider you to be a "high risk"?

That is so funny, to consider me a "high risk" person. I am the most kind and caring human, and the fights only break out when ignorant people taunt us. The men in the protesting group are generally the ones who get caught up in the fights, I am usually just an accomplice.

HA! Didn't you just say that you get a little rowdy sometimes and you have been sent to jail?

Do you have criminal record? If so the, it might be a problem, depending on your criminal record. Some stronger, better insurance companies might consider you as potential risk, but then again you never know, case from case may vary. In my practice I've only seen a few individuals with felony record get denied by my company. Nevertheless, weaker, smaller companies might not even look at your criminal record; as long as you're in a good health, and have prove of income, or net worth.

Life insurance companies are not concerned with misdemeanors. They are concerned with felonies, prison record, pending charges, etc. You should not have a problem applying for term life insurance.
