Gender vs. Driving Record

Why is it more expensive for guys to get car insurance than it is for women? I'm not complaining or anything, but it seems a bit unfair. I have seen some crazy female drivers out there (especially the ones that drive huge trucks) and they seem to putting themselves and others at the same risk as males.

I agree. My insurance is much higher than my wife's insurance and she has totaled her car before. I haven't gotten a ticket in years and I still can't get lower rates.

I think it has to do with men being at a "higher risk" than females when it comes to driving. The same goes for life insurance because women have a longer life expectancy than men. Maybe too much testosterone can make a man drive crazier. I'm not sure.

Wow! Angry Men get stiffed in paying more for life insurance too? This sucks. Women have it so easy.

It could be because men also drive more often than women? I know that when I drive with my boyfriend he always drives. He almost never lets me drive. I can't complain though, I like to relax. I do notice that my boyfriend takes many more risks on the road that I never would. He is more aggressive with getting through yellow lights, he will cut people off sometimes and he even provokes other drivers who are showing signs of road rage. Scary!

Men are probably more expensive because we tend to be more aggressive drivers. Testosterone will do that to you!

For the record, I am an excellent driver! Whenever I let my wife drive she putts along 10 miles below the speed limit and doesn't have any guts to get in there when the traffic is bad.

I don't think it is as important for women to drive really fast and show off. Men like to show off more. Women might be more concerned with getting better gas mileage. Same reason more women buy reasonable cars and men might buy sports cars or Hummers.
