Insurance Salesmen

If an insurance salesman calls me or knocks on my door to try to sell insurance how do I know that he is not a fraud? Is there something I can check before I trust him?

Yes, every state will have a website that you can check. Just search for your state's department of insurance website and find the link where you can verify if an agent is licensed in that state and what license(s) he/she holds. For example here is the link for Texas: http://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASApp/tdi/TdiARManager

I suppose the person could have a fake ID though, you may want to be very cautious anyway.

Take his picture and get his fingerprints before he leaves!

I just would not trust him anyway. If you need insurance you need to be the one to seek out a reputable company. Don't trust someone knocking on your door.
