Peace on Earth and Peace of Mind

Peace on Earth and peace of mind might seem impossible to reach at times, but there are things you can do throughout the year to find peace of mind. How to find peace of mind starts by being patient with others, thinking before you speak, embracing diversity, and giving those you love the sense of security and peace of mind about the future they so deserve.

With the holiday season approaching, I’m going to depart a bit from a post wholly focused on life insurance to something that’s very much top of mind for me—and I’m hoping for you as well.

I’m guessing you’ve noticed we’ve had some rather tumultuous times unfold before our eyes on news stations and on social media lately. What a better world it would be if we could all put our differences aside and have peace on Earth and find peace of mind.

Of course, the realist in me realizes that’s a bit much to ask Santa for this year. But the optimistic realist in me believes we can all do our part to help get us a little closer to that ideal and find peace of mind—not only during the Christmas season, but throughout the entire year as well.

Peace on Earth and Peace of Mind—How to Find It

I’ve got a few ideas. Some are focused on the broader cause; some get more personal, sharing what you can do to give those you love the sense of security and peace of mind about the future they so deserve.

Be Patient With Others

You know, like while trying to find a parking space and when waiting in line at the mall or grocery store. And don’t forget your loved ones deserve patience, too. Take a deep breath, don’t be too quick to judge, and consider others’ feelings before reacting.

Think Before Speaking

Don’t let stress turn your words into weapons. Finding the restraint to take a moment to weigh our words before we release them takes a lot of self-control and discipline when emotions are high. But practice makes perfect; the more you take the time to think before speaking, the more natural it becomes.

Embrace Diversity

We’ve got an immense world with people of all cultures, religions, races, and perspectives. It’s what makes life incredibly fascinating and fulfilling. Embrace the variety and find common ground.

Give Without the Motive to Get

It’s a marvelous feeling to give someone in need a helping hand or a word of encouragement without expecting to get anything at all in return. Couldn’t we all make an effort to do that a bit more often?

Take Better Care of Yourself

Taking action to be healthier and happier not only improves your quality of life, but it also gives those who care about you a sense of well-being. Whether it’s eating better, exercising, quitting smoking, or managing stress better, you have the ability to improve your chances of being here longer for those you love.

Don’t Drive Distracted

Nothing—I repeat—nothing good can ever come from talking, texting, emailing, or posting to social media on smartphones while driving. According to the Distraction.gov website, “Engaging in visual-manual subtasks (such as reaching for a phone, dialing and texting) associated with the use of hand-held phones and other portable devices increased the risk of getting into a crash by three times.” That gives your family and friends plenty of reason for concern about your safety if you insist on multitasking when driving.

Explore Life Insurance Options that Will Protect Loved Ones Financially

I know I’ve taken this post to places we don’t normally go on this blog, but I certainly can’t conclude any discussion about peace of mind without mentioning life insurance!

Life is unpredictable, and life insurance is a way to help ensure your loved ones will be taken care of financially if anything were to happen to you. According to LifeHappens.org, 4 in 10 adults don’t have life insurance and out of those who do, 3 in 10 wish their partner would have more coverage.

The perceived cost of life insurance turns many people away from looking into life insurance, but term life insurance policies are available that can deliver the protection your family needs at a lower cost than whole life policies.

If the unthinkable were to happen to you and your income were no longer available, the term life death benefit paid to your survivors could help them pay the mortgage, fund a college education, and keep up with utility and other living expenses.

A secure future, free from worrying about how to make ends meet, is a strong step toward finding peace of mind.

As the holidays near and a brand new year is just around the corner, I hope you’ll join me in thinking more about the power of peace on Earth and peace of mind. All my best to you and yours this season.
