Who is Aflac?

Aflac is an insurance company that offers multiple types of financial protection for individuals and families. They are the largest provider of supplemental insurance policies in America.

The Aflac life insurance company was founded on November 17, 1955, by John, Paul, and Bill Amos as the American Family Life Insurance Company of Columbus. In 1964, the company name was changed to the American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus.

In 1974, the company went international and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

What insurance products does Aflac offer?

Aflac offers coverage in the following areas: accident insurance, cancer insurance, critical illness insurance, life insurance, hospital insurance, short-term disability insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance.

We’ll go into a little more detail about Aflac’s life insurance plans below.

Aflac Term Life Insurance

Aflac offers three different term lengths: 10 years for individuals age 18-70, 20 years for individuals age 18-60, and 30 years for individuals age 18-50.

Up to the age of 65, you may have the option of converting your term life insurance policy to a permanent policy. Coverage limits go up to $250,000.

Aflac Whole Life Insurance

Aflac’s whole life insurance, a type of permanent life insurance coverage, also offers coverage up to $250,000. Their policies allow you the benefit of the ability to borrow against them to pay for large expenses, such as in the case of cash flow banking or infinite banking.

The two main benefits of Aflac whole life insurance are: (1) very quick payouts of the first $5,000 of a death benefit when a claim is made to pay for immediate out-of-pocket expenses, and (2) accelerated death benefits which can be used as cash benefits if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness, which can be used to help mitigate your out-of-pocket expenses during this difficult time.

Aflac Life Insurance Policy Riders

Aflac offers some policy riders that can be purchased, which would increase your monthly premium. A life insurance rider can be added to a life policy and these optional benefits are a great way to add additional financial protection for you or your family, if you’re comfortable with the additional cost. Their waiver of premium rider allows you to stop making premium payments if you become disabled from an accident that causes an injury, or an illness.

Their child term life insurance riders allow you to get up to $15,000 in coverage for children under 25. They also offer juvenile life insurance.

Their 10-year term insurance rider allows you to increase coverage on a whole life insurance policy for a set period of time.
